Guitar, violin, banjo, drums, bass and horns combine to bring to mind the psych-folk of Neutral Milk Hotel as well as the casual country-soul of The Band. Culled from the oral short stories of guitarist and novelist Chris Eaton, Are We Not Horses is surefooted in it's unique, evocative approach, riding soundly on the back of Eaton's frighteningly emotive vocals and the band's spare-but-hummable melodies. This groundbreaking sci-folk song cycle speaks directly to the questions of essence and existence, but with a back-porch simplicity that leaves us all chanting the band's warm, comforting mantra... "We've Got a Lot to Be Glad For."

The album is being repressed for it's 20th anniversary with liner notes by Stephen Deusner.

TRACKS:

1 I Am An Excellent Steel Horse

2 How Shall I to Heaven Aspire?

3 My Children, Be Joyful

4 Anthem for the Already Defeated

5 Fifteen Hands

6 Are We Not Horses?

7 When We Go, How We Go (Part 1)

8 Our Pasts, Like Lighthouses

9 14/2003

10 Our Hearts Will Not Trust

11 When We Go, How We Go (Part II)

12 We've Got a Lot to Be Glad for

How long will shipping take?

Item is In Stock/Inbound

Item is on Pre-Order

Item is on Backorder

Orders will ship within 1 day of being available

Orders will ship near or on release date, as they are checked in

Orders will ship as they become available, and may take 2-12 weeks

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0560/8321/8590/files/image_8921f6ef-0079-4fe2-ac21-1121c128162c.jpg?v=1793339913
