While his studio records have typically been conceptual, layered affairs with guest collaborators, Prophetic Perfect Tense breaks that pattern entirely - by his own account, the most conventionally guitar-sounding solo record he has ever made, and the closest he has come in a studio context to the live, in-the-room energy of his Ghosted trio.
