From the Manufacturer:
G2 Record Cleaning Fluid-Science
The GrooveWasher G2 Record Cleaning Fluid is the result of years of research and testing. The selection of ingredients was guided by the formulations of the D series fluids of the 1970s. G2 Fluid is designed for maximum cleaning effectiveness of the delicate vinyl surface and microgroove, without the need for rinsing. Anti-static action on contact. Honest cleaning to release the honest sound of the recording.
G2 does not fix scratches or scuffs or damaged grooves. Once the original analog signal in the microgroove is damaged, nothing will recover it.
The 4 ounce mist spray bottle included in this kit has more than 500 fine mist sprays. Refill bottles of G2 Fluid are available for separate purchase. Available sizes: 8 ounce, 32 ounce, 64 ounce and 128 ounce.
Some vinyl record "cleaning" fluids on the market today are plain distilled water! (Read the label before you spend your money.) Even worse, some others have a high level of isopropyl alcohol which is an ineffective cleaning chemical and can harm vinyl records. (G2 Fluid contains no isopropyl alcohol.) Some record fluids are designed to leave a layer of residue or coating in the microgroove.
Avoid using oils or products that claim to protect your records by applying a silicone coating. Record pressing manufacturers work very hard to formulate their vinyl so the stylus will glide along the microgroove to reproduce the music the artists intended. Without any need for coatings or lubricants. These products clog your stylus and muffle the music.
High Tech G2 Fluid Contains:
Surfactants: State of the art detergents dissolve and suspend fingerprints and other oily grime.
Super wetting agent: A specialty chemical that reduces the G2 Fluid's surface tension to reach the bottom of the groove. When you spray G2 Fluid on a record you can see it spread down the grooves.
Emulsifiers: Holds the oils, dirt, mildew and microdust particles in suspension. Then the microfiber fabric cleaning pad wipes and pulls the dirt-filled solution from the record surface.
Laboratory grade, double deionized, carbon filtered & UV treated water: Carrier for the active cleaning ingredients. Eliminates static electric charges on the record's surface on contact.
GrooveWasher Solid Walnut Wood Handle Design
The GrooveWasher walnut handle is milled from a single solid piece of midwest premium American Black Walnut, hand finished by our wood artisans with waterproof oil polyurethane in our plant in North Kansas City, Missouri, USA.
We designed the shape to be easy to grip while cleaning your records. Low profile hook velcro is applied to the bottom of the handle to secure the replaceable cleaning pad.
(NOTE: Our walnut products are chunks of 40 year old Black Walnut trees. Every one is unique. Some may have small surface cracks, splits or knots. This is the character of the wood, not a craftsman's mistake. In this world of veneer, fake plastic wood and MDF, we hope you appreciate the quality and character of the solid, hand crafted GrooveWasher walnut products.)
Cleaning Pad Design & Science
The GrooveWasher replaceable microfiber cleaning pad features a super absorbent black terry style split microfiber cover. This fabric is effective in removing the contaminants borne in the G2 Fluid from the record's microgroove. The design of the low profile loop velcro on the back of the pad allows the pad to be removed from the walnut handle and washed or replaced. The cleaning pads are made by hand by our textile artists in North Kansas City.
