In recent years, Deutsche Grammophon has captured a series of very special concerts at which the legendary John Williams has conducted selections of his own music with some of the world’s greatest orchestras, namely Berliner Philharmoniker, Wiener Philharmoniker, Boston Symphony Orchestra and Saito Kinen Orchestra. The Yellow Label is now issuing a very unique fan-item presenting four different recordings of John Williams’ “Imperial March” from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back with these orchestras. It is a 12-inch picture disc single, cut in the shape of the iconic Darth Vader’s helmet. “The invitation to conduct those orchestras is probably one of the highest accolades any musician could receive … I am so happy to have been well enough and around long enough to accept invitations like that, and I hope I can revisit them at some time in the future” – John Williams.
