Signed to International Artists Records - home to the 13th Floor Elevators - the band struck gold with their debut single, the blistering "Hot Smoke & Sassafras." A Hendrix-charged rocket, it blasted to #14 on the U.S. charts in early '69 and lit the fuse for what came next. That "next" was A Gathering of Promises - a record that fused garage grit, trippy textures, and powerhouse harmonies into something all it's own.
