Yr Knives is a Chicago instrumental quartet built around two overdriven guitars merging into something neither could produce alone. Guitarists Andrew Trim (Hanami) and Brian J Sulpizio (Health & Beauty) are joined by bassist Douglas McCombs (Tortoise) and drummer Quin Kirchner. Two come up as rock players, two as jazz players, and the music lives in how closely they listen across those languages. Their debut, Begin Yr Singing, is searching, exploratory, and grounded.
